Job Well Done!

4

I just got the word from Steve Carr that his team at Lighting Rod Motorcycles took home the top award for their custom build at the Fall Thunder Beach Rally this past weekend. The other bikes also were winners, the Gold bobber won 1st place in its class, as well as a second place for the black and gold boardtracker, and the winner in the metric custom class was a bike on out team as well. Over all we won 5 awards and almost $3000 in cash and prizes. Glad I could be a part of this build.

It lives….

Bikes are done………..

Dinos

My good friend Kutty Noteboom and I were checking out a vintage Street Chopper Magazine and thought it would be cool to create the cover bike with our own ideas, all the while paying homage to the past. Well, here we are six months later and I have  created the Pink Taco and Kutty has created the Plum Smuggler. Come join us at Dino’s Bar, the oldest bar on the strip, on Oct 1 at 8 pm for the unveiling of two insane motorcycles. Ride your bike in as Dino’s is shutting down the parking lot for us. Thanks to the Dino’s staff and James for hooking us up!

Who knew……..

that at the Vtwin Expo 08 I would run into the Biltwell guys and in 09 I would be here in Lake Elsinore, Ca and get to see them all the time. McGoo, Bill and Chris are a great bunch of guys and are doing a stand up job for the motorcycle industry.

They created the El Diablo Run, been a huge part of the Gypsy Run, threw down two awesome events here in CA known as the Chop Meet and the Biltwell Bash. Recently they have launched the newest web forum, Chop Cult and have are working on the Slab City Riot , which I will be getting to spend some down time with Wayne. I am stoked! You can usually find me set up next to these guys, they keep me well entertained! If you haven’t checked out the Chop Cult, please do so and help support my friends!

Thanks to McGoo for his generosity to my family and for his help during the Pink Taco build

Street Chopper’s 40th Anniversary Bike Build

I was stoked when I got the call from Jeff Holt over at Street Chopper Magazine to help create a one off seat for their 40th Anniversary Bike Build. I have been a avid follower of Street Chopper as long as I can remember. So I called my buddies at Biltwell for one of their fancy seat pan with the molded foam and just had to decide what to do.

I hand tool a lot of seats  but most people do not realize that I can sew as well. So I sent Jeff the seat and waited for his response, he was happy with the outcome. You will see this bike on the cover of the Street Chopper Magazine Special 40th issue on sale in October. Thanks to Jeff and his staff for the call and Biltwell for the seat pan.

I want it……..

I was over at Freddy’s, Fred’s Frames, picking up a part for the Pink Taco when Freddy showed me an original Denvers Frame that his buddy dropped off. It amazes me how he can remember who built it and who did the molding. If I could spare the cash, I would get this frame and keep it just like it is.

Wooden Monster

IMG_7700

This 200 foot wingspan Martin Mars parks in the lake down the street during fire season here. It’s a 1945 patrol plane that has been converted for fire fighting. The “Hawaii Mars” that is here is the sixth built of seven before production was ceased. You know when it’s flying around. The windows in the house start to shake and the noise is incredible. Four 18 cylinder radials will do that.

A note from a solider…….

I was contacted by Chris Balmilero who is stationed in Afghanistan, to make him a wallet. To my surprise the other day, I received this package.IMG_8478

I am totally blown away! Thanks to the crew for this awesome gift and for everything you guys are putting up with, so I can sit here and bang on leather freely!

Giving back……

I created this seat for Sara Liberte and Jodi Perewitz of the Garage Girls last year. They were building a bobber that went to one lucky soul that purchased a ticket. All the donations went to cancer research.
